Well, apologies for the brief marketing, but seriously, check us out. Anyhow, this article is by no means an academic paper and is derived from the experiences and minds of our team working at MESO Serviced and Virtual Office. Here, we would like to discuss our findings about the importance of teamwork to you, our readers!
Why so? With a brand new office, we have a brand new team as well. So how to get the team to work together effectively and efficiently? The five keys of becoming a well-oiled running machine are going to be discussed below. Think of it, be it at school or at work the term ‘teamwork’ is definitely not new. In fact, for most of our lives, be it consciously or unconsciously, directly or indirectly, we have been constantly doing a lot of teamwork activities throughout our lives. So, how is it then on every teamwork, there is always ‘that person’ who somehow manages to be the dead weight of the team? How to make sure, that we are not that ‘that person’?
As one of the leading Serviced Office and Virtual Office provider, MESO also relies a lot on the team’s synergy to ensure that our clients are satisfied with our services and support. Therefore, we think that we could share some of our takes on ‘How to teamwork” based on our experiences here at MESO Kokas-Office 88.
1. Good Communication
Despite what others might say, good communication is the key to having a well-oiled running team. Take the example of chocolate biscuit manufacturing company. The factory has an assembly line with each line designated to fulfil a certain job. The first one is to make the biscuit, the second one to cut the biscuit, and the last one to package the biscuit. These assembly line has to work together simultaneously in order for the biscuits to be manufactured.
Imagine if one of the lines broke down. The whole manufacturing system would be disrupted and the assembly line fails. Now let’s apply this situation as a team. Your sales team is the first line, the marketing team is the second line, and your finance team is the third line. If no good information transfer is done in between the teams, how can a good ‘biscuit’ be manufactured?
Another part of a good communication that a lot of people might miss is confidence. Believe it or not, saying things with a confident note actually gives more clarity. Our readers who speaks more than one language, you will most likely know what we mean. Imagine mumbling arigatou shyly or confidently and loudly saying AR-I-GA-TO-U to a Japanese person. He or she will most likely understand the latter. Don’t believe us? Give it a go!
2. Appreciate the whole team
To be realistic there will always be a better performing person in a team. Think of Fast and Furious, the whole team works really well and each member has his or her own specialties. However, when you think Fast and Furious, you think Dom a.k.a Vin Diesel. Admit it. The bald guy with the strategies, the adrenaline pumping actions, the guy who stiches the team into a family, and basically the guy who pushes the team forward.
The same thing with MESO Serviced and Virtual Office at Office 88, we too have Dom in our team. However, although having numerous or a single Dom(s) in the team sound to good to be true. Remember that in order to pull of amazing stunts and strategies, he too needs a reliable support team ready at hand.
Information gathering, administration work, keeping the office clean are the simple examples of the backstage work we tend to forget. Without these support, even the office version of Dom won’t be able to perform like Dom did in the Fast and Furious series. So remember to show your appreciation once in a while to the team. It’s easy to brush off the idea but remember that sometimes a small pat in the back or a ‘nice work’ worth more than you think.
3. Never Stop Learning
In the world of business, it’s so easy to get carried away and be comfortable with our own knowledge expertise that we forgot to listen and learn from other people. The old saying from Woodrow Wilson ‘the ear of the leader must ring with the voices of the people’ is one saying we hold tight at MESO Serviced and Virtual Office. At our Office 88 MESO Kokas, sharing information with the team is what we do. For we believe that each of our members have valuable information that can be useful to the company.
Aside of office environment, learning from people outside the office also gives you more insight on the world. Any knowledge is never a waste, and will one day be useful to your and the team. More over, by having the mind-set of wanting to seek new knowledge also pushes a person to have a more open-minded way of thinking. Open-mindedness allows us to take on challenges and to think outside of the box. Yes. The bosses’ favourite term ‘think outside of the box’ may actually be easier than what you think. Great ideas doesn’t have to completely be a new idea from scratch, in fact, stitching several ideas you get from others and formulating it into a another idea is also a new idea! In conclusion, always be hungry for knowledge.
So there it is, the three points we conclude from our experience at MESO Serviced and Virtual Office Jakarta. If you have any other opinions or experiences, you would like to share, please do so! We would love to hear more from our readers.
