Who says buying habits can’t be smart? At this capitalism age where consumerism is no longer an option but a living standard to most, competition in the market has also grown fierce and vast. Perhaps a decade ago, when buying street wears, options are limited to certain shops and brands. Now, the numbers of online clothing shops are so much that in order to look for a certain item, browsing for a whole day may not be enough to make a buying decision. Not just clothing, purchasing things like electronics, furniture, accommodation, or even office also requires more effort of comparing and contrasting which leads us to the importance of smart purchasing behaviour.
Although some may argue that the varying options creates more options to buyers, but truth to be told, with so many options to choose and to compare, if each purchase decisions requires a huge effort to comparing and contrasting every single vendors, it will be irksome and exhausting. For one, the attention span of an average adult estimates between 10-20 minutes. Not nearly enough to scour the massive options on the Internet. Second, observing consumers' purchasing behaviour, many will not spend a whole day browsing through each and every product to find the best products. Believe it or not, according to an article by Forbes, 90% of purchases are made by instinct. Third, consumers are easily swayed by a beautiful façade, and people in general dislike reading a long passage. Be honest, who actually reads the whole Terms and Agreement each time updating a software or app?
Without further ado, lets narrow down the smart purchasing habits that most people neglects.
