Holidays are usually the time of splurging. Whether it’s buying gifts for loved
ones, eating out at delicious restaurants, travelling around the world, or simply
hanging out with friends. At the end of holiday, most people will be up for the
saving mood. Since the Ramadhan holiday just ended, we’d like to share our
realistic and daily doable saving tips to our dearest readers.
1. Purpose or Target
Set a clear goal for your savings. That way every time you have the urge to splurge on trivial things, you can remind yourself again of the saving goals. Tips: set a realistic, doable goal. For instance: trip with friends.
2. Lunch box
As ridiculous as it seems, lunch box can actually help you save. Instead of eating out at the nearby restaurants, try prepping your own lunch the night before. Not only does it save costs but it is also much healthier.
The relationship between exercise and savings may be indirect but it does help you save money. The more you exercise the less likely you will crave for unhealthy office snacks, and the more likely you will pack those lunchboxes and save some of those snacks and food expenses.
4. Drink Water
Drinking water is perhaps the most underrated tips for saving up money. By drinking water regularly, you will feel less hunger and cravings for snacks during office hour. Moreover, it helps you to concentrate more at work.
If your work allows you, try to get 7-9 hours of sleep everyday and wake up earlier. That way you won’t be groggy when you start working. Also, did you notice that when you don't get enough sleep time, you tend to binge eat during work? Save some of that snacking costs and sleep earlier.
6. Avoid Credit Cards
Credit cards may give you a false assurance of not spending your money, but it actually encourages you to spend more. Limit your use of credit cards and you’ll see the result.
7. Save automatically
By having extra saving accounts, it’s more or less like preparing an umbrella before the rain. This will effectively limit your spending while at the same time motivates you to save more.
